The Malik family came to Canada from India. Major K.B. Malik
left a military career that spanned decades and resulted in an
important position with the government.
Usha Malik had been a vice-principal at her school in New Delhi.
Adjusting to a new country where their former authority was gone,
required some adjustment for the Maliks. Mrs. Malik was able to
re-qualify as a teacher and spent time as a teacher and principal
in a remote First Nations community.
While she enjoyed both the work and the community, she found
being separated from her husband too difficult. Major Malik is
currently attending Confederation College in the nursing program
and hopes to find work in this field in the Thunder Bay area.
