President: Jim Squier
My first year as TBMA president has been both very challenging
and very rewarding.
TBMA is very supportive of newcomers to Thunder Bay, providing
assistance through a variety of programs translation services,
settlement, language assessment, and Host and promoting
multiculturalism and diversity in our community.
Without the support of our member organizations, our many
volunteers, and our staff, TBMA would not be recognized by many
cultures as the backbone of multiculturalism in Thunder Bay.
Our annual Folklore Festival is just one of the events that
bring Thunder Bay cultural groups together in a celebration of our
diversity, and it continues to be an important event in the
communitys Festival calendar.
During the past year there certainly have been challenges:
dealing with board meetings, managing personnel concerns, and
handling funding and budget concerns. The biggest but most
rewarding of these challenges, for myself and our Program Director
Cathy Woodbeck, has been working to get new programs going at
TBMA.
It has been a pleasure to volunteer at TBMA Bingos, and to
co-chair the Folklore Festival.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank TBMA staff and
organizations for their support during the past year. I look
forward to serving you again in the coming year.
