Life Experience in Another Country By Christ Saw Moo Ro Whenever we travel to another place or another country there are many things that are different from where we used to live. We should keep the good things, the good habits that we have with us when we move on to a new place or a new country. We should leave behind the bad things that we might have experienced and/or practiced. Many things are different since I moved to Canada. I never flew on an airplane or rode on a bus before. So, when people see us flying on an airplane or riding on the bus, some of them just laugh at us because we don’t know what to do. We should try to ask questions even though we are not fluent in English. When I was on an airplane on my way to here, I was asked at one point if I wanted to eat and I didn’t answer because I was scared. I want to say to those that are coming, “Don’t act like me or you will starve”. Once we got here we didn’t know how to get around using the bus. We wanted to ask others that were using the bus but we are too afraid to ask for help, so we ended up getting lost most of the time. I want to advise those that are coming in the future that first of all, when you are trying to get to a place or coming back from a place, you should know your full address. This will make it easier for others to help you when you get lost. Second of all, once you start working, you should get to work on time. I was so used to waking up and having no work to attend to in the refugee camp that once I started working here I procrastinated about going to work. I just want to say that if you (or I) do something, we should give it our best. If we go to school we should try our best. There are many things that we see, good and bad. We should only learn good things and walk away from bad things.
